The 701 is 1/2 inch taller. The 690 holds slightly more fuel capacity. 0.2 gallons. The 701 has a 24000 mile warranty while the 690 has a 12000. I was set on the 701, but I also like the lower profile of the 690 exhaust as they get so hot the less in the way the better. Also that warranty is a clear plus.
