I had Dr Martens that split and still wore them for many months after that without doing anything. They donât let water inside the boot. I only stopped wearing them because theyâve become too small after my feet decided to grow a bit in my late 20s. đ
Doc Marten soles are thick and have extra plastic to spare. Use the leather cleaner to clean the boot. Use a cotton swab soaked in rubbing alcohol to reach any dirt ground into cracks in the footwear. Allow time for drying. Use adhesive in crevices along the lining between the sole and the leather of the boot.
I know there are leather filler products that can be used to smooth the surface after damage like this, but if youâre new to shoe care I wouldnât recommend trying that by yourself. Docs are just not what they used to be. Check out Solovair and Gripfast (same website). Both are boot makers in England from the 1800s and were two of the comps ies that made Docs for Dr. Martens (they own a patent for the soles). They have much higher quality boots for $200-230. I've had a pair of Gripfast steel toe 10 hole boots for 10 years.

Major damage canât be repaired on patent leather. If these are the âveganâ ones theyâre actually a coated plastic and I have no idea what you would do with that.
