Also i would recommend getting mods for bannerlord. Since its early access it is missing some really cool stuff and many more things arent even implemented properly (perks etc.) I personnaly use these mods which arent gamebreaking by any means. They are really fun, make sense and keep the game realistic.

Head up north and murderize a few sea raiders, then take their axes and melt them down into 2 wood and 3 iron, which sells for 300-600 per axe and the wood generated produces enough coal to melt another axe. It's a great way to earn initial money to buy a workshop. #6.
Bannerlord influence guide:In this video I try and go over the main points to understand the influence system in Bannerlord:What is Influence in BannerlordHo I have smithy in Seneon, it doesn't make money at all. I go there and buy a bunch of cheap tools at the market, completely depleting it's stock. The workshop will then make decent money, but the amount drops off back to nothing after a short time. I go back and pick up another stack of cheap tools and it repeats. With each battle and other activities that you take on for the kingdom, you’ll earn renown and influence. The more you fight, the better known you’ll become, and that’s the key to becoming a Vassal. Quick Tip. It’s faster to earn the renown you need to become a Vassal if you have a war to fight on behalf of your chosen kingdom. But at the core, the numbers make no sense. A woodshop require hardwood to make bows and shield and it can produce level 5 weapons. Wood cost barely any money but the weapons produced by it can sell for over 100k.
Have lots of money (a few million). Have a enough income to cover your expenses. This is also a good time to let that main quest expire because it is fubar. You can create a kingdom without that crappy banner. Yeah, at the moment I've 4 groups, 5 castels and 3 cities, but I think at this point that I lack in money, being at 400K coins.

Historically, countries that lost wars had to pay tribute to the victor to save their own ass. This seems reasonable, you took their cities and if you make peace those cities will stay with you. With war they have a chance to take them back. You should pay tribute to them to keep those cities. #4.

Having a full garrison does make the AI more likely to besiege easier targets. Also besieging enemy fiefs also seem to draw groups of nobles and armies away from sieging. But yeah, I hear you. Having a garrison can free up a little time/space. Also garrison helps security, which in turn helps productivity of the fief. t9Sz.
