Go through with the update, the mmi will re-boot a few times, and at the end it will give you all OK, re-boot and then cancel documentation, re-boot again into the mmi as normal. Hopefully the Bose Fader/Balance should now work as normal. Again, re-enable the green menu via VCDS as the code gets overwritten.
